"The museum of Simonas Daukantas was founded by the municipality of Akmene district in 1986. At the present the museum stores 220 exhibits. The visitors can observe the paintings on the subject of the motifs of Simonas Daukantas works, presented to the museum by the painters A. Svazas, R. Tarabilda, A. Kazdailis, S. Sakalys, A. Banys, A. Surgailiene and K. Simonis. Also, a diverse documentary data, famous people`s recollections telling us about this well-known Samogitian and the like are on a display in the museum. The visitors are introduced to the life story of Simonas Daukantas, his historical and linguistic works as well as to the other authors` works about this historian, writer and a representative of Enlightenment in Lithuania.
The museum is situated in a Samogitian farm-house, the former altar place not far from the Church of Papile. In this farm-house Simonas Daukantas had spent the last years of his life." (Museums of Lithuania)

"The Cottage of Paragiai Manor
The cottage of Paragiai Manor is an estate ensemble, a characteristic feature of the 18th c. architecture. The cottage has been renowned for being a homeplace of the famous writers Sofija Ivanauskaite-Psibiliauskiene (1867-1926) and Marija Ivanauskaite-Lastauskiene (1872-1957) who had composed their works under a joint pen-name of Lazdynu Peleda.

The museum of Lazdynu Peleda was established in 1966. Its area stretches for 94.8 square metres. In the museum a memorial exposition of the writers is displayed.
During the museum`s preparation for restoration, a part of the exhibits has been temporarily removed from the exposition. However, even at the present time, in the museum premises the visitors may get acquainted with some of the writers` household articles, documents, photographs - the background that had shaped the talent of the writer Lazdynu Peleda.
Lazdynu Peleda (Marija Ivanauskaite-Lastauskiene):

The writer was born on 1/06/1872 in Siauliai, and died on 19/07/1957 in Kaunas. She received her education at home, from her father. Marija Ivanauskaite started composing verses in Polish at the age of 17. Encouraged by her sister and Povilas Visinskis, she began writing for the Lithuanian press. Marija Ivanauskaite composed her works in Polish, while her sister Sofija translated them into Lithuanian. These collective works were published under a joint pen-name of both sisters - Lazdynu Peleda. After her sister`s death, Marija wrote in Lithuanian. " (Museums of Lithuania)

Visitors are received everyday by arranging in advance by telephone.

"The Museum of Beavers is founded not far away from Akmene in the State reserve of Kamanos on initiative Vytautas Almanis. The visitors of the museum are shown a great deal of animals, birds and plants, that are included into the Red Data Book of Lithuania.

State reserve of Kamanos
State reserve of Kamanos was established in 1979. The reserve territory is 3938 ha. The aim of the museum is to keep the biggest and the most valuable argillaceous ecosystem of the plain Northern Lithuania with characteristic and rare flora and fauna." (Museums of Lithuania)

"The permanent exhibition features the local history and the mode of life of Kelme area, the landlord Gruzevskis’ family, and outstanding people of the area. It also contains exhibitions of religious art and folk art of the Kelme area.

Expositions
In the Family Exposition of the Owners of the Estate Gruzevskiai furniture, plates and dishes, photographs, graphic works, information material about the former owners of the estate are displayed.

In the Exposition of Jonas Vadeikis - German Writer Carl May - American Indians material about the ethnographer and pedagogue Jonas Vadeikis, the first translator of Carl May’s book into Lithuanian, German writer’s Carl May books, various American Indians’ household articles are displayed.

In the Family Life and Folk Art Exposition things and furniture used in household in the 19th beginning of 20th centuries, wooden art articles are displayed.

In the Exposition of the Founder of Union of Riflemen of Lithuania Vl. Putvinskis Vl. Putvinskis’ photographs, documents, books, personal things are exposed.

The Exposition of Archaeological Investigations and Finds of Kelme Area tells about archaeological excavations and finds in the region.Displays telling about the exile, resistant movement, war period and the history of Catholic Church are shown in the Exposition of the History of Kelme Area.

The Exposition of Tillage Tools is arranged in a granary. A great variety of working tools can be seen here." (Museums of Lithuania)
