"The Riga Water Supply Museum was opened in 1988. The exhibition tells of the development of methods of water supply in Riga. It contains design documentation, maps, pictures and other information about the canal from Lake Jugla, dating from the 16th century; the first pumping station and the network of wooden pipelines in Old Riga built in 1663; the first steam pumping station built in 1863 in Maskavas Street; the ground water pumping station in Baltezers built in 1904 and others. The museum also displays steam boilers, produced in the early 20th century, pumps, pipes, different kinds of water meters and testing equipment. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)

“An excellent opportunity to see native Latvian animals living in natural conditions in large forest enclosures. A trail of 5.5 km links the different enclosures for wolves, wild boar, lynx, bears, buffalo, deer and more. From the central watch tower a beautiful panoramic view opens out across the Gauja valley. A further Untouched Nature Trail (1.3 km) leads to a sandstone canyon while the twisting Gaujmala Trail leads along the river Gauja’s banks.
