The National Park Galichica is situated on Galichica mountain which belongs to the Shara-Pind system of mountains. The National Park was designated, on the Macedonian part of the mountain by the Parliament of Republic of Macedonia in October 1958, because of the particulary natural beautis, landscapes and estetical values, extraordinary richfull endemic flora and fauna...The Park is situated between two biggest Macedonian lakes, Ohrid and Prespa, having the meridian direction of streching. Its area is 227 square km. The lowest point is the level of Ohrid Lake - 695 m, and Prespa Lake - 850 m, and the higest is 2265 m above the see level.

Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments and the National Museum

The framework of this institution incorporates several departments: archaeology, history, ethnology, Slav architecture, history of art, and contemporary arts. It also has its own library, and a photo-preparatory laboratory. The essential part of its activities is the depot which give a shelter to approximately 800 icons dating from the period between XII and XIX century. The most representative ones were relocated in the Galley of Icons. The Institute current activities involve reconstruction and restoration of Samuel's Fortress, The Classical Theatre and St. Clement's Church of St. Pantaleimon at Plaosnik and earlier complete reconstruction of the Robevs House. Today the house contains an archaeological display, exhibition of articles from the Robevs household, artwork of the Ohrid Woodcarving School and archeological excavations of Ohrid and its vicinity. copyrightVerlagDrCMüller-StratenMünchen2006

The museum is located in the old premises of the train station, which was partly damaged in the earthquake in 1963. A part of the museum is turned into an art gallery. The "City Museum" is one of the most famous objects in town.

Military Museum

The Museum will collect, research, conserve and display items, documents, maps and other testimonies related to Macedonia’s military history.
The Military Museum as a specialized national institution is a project initiated by outgoing Defense Minister Jovan Manasijevski. Moreover, a commemorative room of General Mihajlo Apostolski, commander of the Macedonian liberation army headquarters will be opened within the museum by the end of 2006.

The idea of its making dates even before the earthquake but it was done after it. The museum is a home of very important art works. The museum of modern art is one of the most significant institutions of the culture in Macedonia.
